Youth Council

Dresden's bid for the "European Capital of Culture 2025" is to be co-determined in future by young people. A Youth Council will be established for this purpose, which will implement its own project every year, thus allowing the city society to participate in its ideas and play an active part in shaping them. Starting in March 2019, young people living in Dresden will conduct research with five artists at five locations on a self-chosen question on the subject of "Neue Heimat". The artistic results of the five youth groups will form the prelude to the "International Dresden Dialogue" from 26 to 29 September 2019. Here the young people from Dresden will meet young adults from Europe to discuss their points of view and views.

The youth groups work with these partners: Dresden Municipal Libraries, Media Culture Centre Dresden, SPIKE Dresden, tjg. theater junge generation, Filmfest Dresden and the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden.

Viola starts with you on white paper and with two questions: What inspires you? What do you want to change? We'll give you a place, technology and know-how so that you can give shape to your ideas about NEUE HEIMAT. We want to explore Dresden, listen, disturb, ask, understand, perhaps even shout at, observe, photograph, film, write poems, draw. And - ACTION!

The FILMFEST DRESDEN cordially invites you to the Kurz.Film.Club.
What does NEW mean? What does HEIMAT mean? What is a NEW HEIMAT? How do national and international filmmakers present their homeland? What makes home their home? And do we find ourselves in these representations? Together, we will explore the archives of FILMFEST DRESDEN and create a short film programme that tells the story of Heimat in a variety of ways and that brings us into conversation about the various perspectives as well as about our own ideas.

Fashion with HEIMAT
Which body images do we know? Do overarching ideals exist? Starting with the exhibition "Adventure Man", the joint work of our project group explores these questions. We get to know a multitude of deformations, transformations and shapes. Textile upcycling - objects, extensions, proposals or documenting pieces that deal with the subject matter in their own independent way - can emerge. The artistic work is presented in a performance.
