European Capital of Culture 2025 – in recent years, many committed Dresden citizens, associations and initiatives, cultural institutions and companies have worked together with the Bid Office Dresden 2025 to achieve this title. Together we have discussed, contributed ideas, organised events, initiated projects, crossed our fingers and put a lot of heart and soul into the bid. Unfortunately, Dresden did not make it into the final selection. We would like to thank everyone for their great commitment! City Council Resolution The Dresden City Council has decided which strategic objectives from the past bid of Dresden for the title "European Capital of Culture 2025" should be pursued further. You can read more information here. Jury Report The "Kulturstiftung der Länder" has published the jury report on the national bid for the title "European Capital of Culture 2025". In the report, the jury justifies and explains its decision as to which of the German candidate cities made it to the shortlist. Further information can be found here. Voices on missing the shortlist After the jury decision, we received many attentive words. Here you can find some voices. Jury Decision The jury has decided that Dresden unfortunately did not make it to the next round in the bid for the title "European Capital of Culture 2025". We are very sad, but we did our best and are proud of the potential that the bid has unleashed within the city. Even without the title, we will use this power to push things forward in Dresden. So please stay committed to Dresden in the future as well.
